Alrighty :D

Just as I promised, I am going to start sharing with you the lore of the World that I've created.

All of this Lore is canon now and I will probably go back and write some short stories based on this lore.

(Potential Series Cover?)

I thought it was kind of funny because I wanted to say that these short stories that I write will actually be books that are referenced in the big stories that I will right, like the Illum story I am working on right now.

The best part about World Building is that when I get writers block and can take a break from my story and work on another one.  And if I force myself to write only short stories, then that means I will still be writing, which is always important for a writer to do.

(Some Okred Swords)

Ok, so before I get into the lore, I'm gonna give you an update on my story.  I'm currently at 83 pages with 21, 560 words!!! Holy crap.  I did all of that in the course of a little over a week.  The story is going great, and I just hit chapter 9.  The next chapter is the full explosion into the rising action.  It's gonna be epic :D

Anyway, here is the first part of the story of Humanity in my Fantasy World.

Enjoy:

*

Creation:

At the center of the main continent, the creator God Viius walked.  He stood upon the banks of the Great Lake.  Viius reached down and grabbed some dirt.  He formed the dirt into a shape.  He made the shape in his image.  He breathed his breath of life into the nostrils of the creature, allowing part of his spirit to reside inside of it.

The creature shook the dust off and looked up at the Lord.  Viius then called the creature Man.  The Lord set Man aside from all other creatures, even the Dragons.  He increased the population of man by his power, making male and female.  He told them to be fruitful and multiply.

(Map of the Kingdom of Man - Lake Abda was once just called the Great Lake)

Mankind began to grow under the care of Lord Viius and his Angels.  Mankind spread across the land, only stopping at the mountain and water borders.  Great bridges were constructed.  Small family groups began to join together to form small tribes.  When Viius saw his perfection prospering he went on to create other sentient-humanoid creatures, such as the Elves, Dwarves, and Saphids.

There were many human tribes in those days, numbering in the thousands.  Groups of five tribes were instructed by a single Angel.  The different tribes of Man began to work together within their groups of five, due to a common leadership and culture.

The Fall of Kyyja:

During this time the Goddess Kyyja came to the Playing Fields.  She became corrupted by an Ancient Dark Entity that dwelled deep within a cave.  Kyyja became lustful and rebellious.  She grew to hate Mankind.  She saw them as a way to replace the dragons, as she was a Dark Dragon Lord.  This made her even hate the Lord Viius.

As Dragon Lords have the ability to morph into any intelligent creature, Kyyja morphed into a beautiful woman.  She made Mankind lust for her, causing Mankind to fall into sin and stop listening to the Angels.

(Pantheon)

Kyyja hoped to make Mankind fall from grace to the point that Viius would have no choice but to destroy them.  So she sent her lesser servants out to corrupt the teachings of the Angels, even convincing Mankind to drive the Angels away.  Kyyja made her servants teach Mankind about war and bloodlust.

Kyyja went to her father, Ducorrbus (the Fire Dragon Lord and God of Fire and War), and tricked him into sending his servants to teach mankind how to fight wars and use fire.  Mankind’s sin only grew because of this.

(Fire Dragon)

Then Kyyja approached her sister, Libris (a Phoenix and Goddess of Wisdom and Inventions).  Kyyja tricked Libris into releasing her servants to teach Mankind how to make weapons.  Mankind soon became masters of creating bronze weapons.  Again, Mankind’s bloodlust only increased.  When both Libris and Ducorrbus saw what they had a part in, they immediately recalled their servants, but the damage was already done.

Mankind continued to slaughter one another.  Ducorrbus then sent his nephew, Lumir to confront Kyyja, as Lumir was an Angelic Being, and the God of Light and Hope.  Lumir confronted Kyyja when she was teaching Mankind in her form as the beautiful woman.  Lumir used his powers to expose Kyyja for what she was – a Dark Dragon.

This terrified Mankind because they had never seen a Dragon, let alone a Dark Dragon, before.  Word of this spread like wildfire among Mankind, especially in the area around what was called the Playing Fields.  However, by the time word reached the area around the Great Lake, the Story had gotten confused and lost.  Mankind on the other side of the Great Lake were vile and blood thirsty.  The fighting continued and soon Mankind would forget why they were fighting in the first place.

(This guy will be mentioned in the next Blog Post!!)

*

Well, there is the beginning of Mankind in my world.  The Creation of Man by the God Viius, along with the corruption of the Dark Dragon Deity known as Kyyja.  I even go into detail of how small groups of people start coming together to make small tribes.  I make small mention of Viius creating other humanoids such as the Elves, Okreds, and Saphids.  I make reference to Lumir, the Deity of Light and Hope.  That's one that you should remember.  I end by saying how Mankind is divided and how the tribes are constantly fighting each other.

Tomorrow I will go on to the next thing that happened with mankind.  It is highly connected to the deity Lumir, so it's good to know this added context.

Until Next Time

Story Update!!!

* (music to listen to :D) *

So I've done a lot in the past couple months in regards to my story and world building.

If you remember, I made this awesome map of the world:

Now I know it is kinda hard to see from this picture, but I used a grid to draw this map.  Using that grid, I started to work on a history of the world, starting from ancient times.  Currently my Human History is pretty much caught up to the timeline of the story I am currently working on.  I'm still working on the history of the Elves, Dwarves, Okreds, Saphids, and Goryons.  I believe even the Dragon's might have their own history story as well, since they are important creatures in the world - they are also really connected to Elvish and Goryon history.

I've created brief mentions of stories that I can probably evolve into short stories later on down the road, or be referenced in bigger stories that I do, like the one I am currently working on (which I've already done a little bit of).  It is rather interesting to see how I am slowly making everything connect together and have its own little purpose.

If you remember the protagonist, Illum, you'd know he is kinda a complex character.  Well now with a few tweaks to his backstory and the wording i use in the story I'm working on, Illum has become a very complex character.  The bad part about this is I've created a sad almost tragic backstory for him, and I know that as the story progresses that Illum will have to deal with his tragic past in order to grow.

* isn't character development lovely *

Even Yarmik, who was originally intended to be just a typical villain character, has an even more tragic backstory and reasons to explain why he is the person that he is.  I know it's crazy to think that there could be a villain you can empathize with.  Welp, Yarmik has become that way for me and it is crazy.   The worst part about it is that Yarmik isn't the protagonist and so I can't exactly develop his character throughout the story.  But I believe I might be able to push an important lesson using Yarmik as an example :)

Even the overall antagonist, Yurid, has a huge reasons that explains why he is "evil."  Yurid might have one of the more tragic backstories of all the characters.  Going from a great prince, to a broken man, to the monster he is.  It is really sad.  Again, I probably could push another lesson based on the story of Yurid.

Even Perseus Bruqon has a sad background.  A common theme among characters I believe :)
Percy has to face his past as well and since he is more around the Protagonist, Illum, for a vast majority of the series, readers will be able to watch him grow as well.

Really the only flat character would be Randal and he isn't even that flat.  He has his own backstory and reasons for why he does what he does.  Some of which are sad.  Randal will be an interesting character to see develop as I progress in the story.

To be honest with you, my favorite character besides Illum would either be Prince Maollan or Mivius Bijor.

Maollan is an amazing character and his story is heartbreaking.  Well he also is a strong character and wise when he needs to be.  Maollan is going to be one of the focal points of being able to write out and explain my favorite theme in this story.  It's gonna be awesome!

And Mivius Bijor - (sorry that the second one isn't finished - no eyes :D ) - will play a huge role as the story comes to an end.  He is going to be a great and complex character to add to the story, even though out of all the characters, he probably is the only one that doesn't have a really tragic backstory.  :)

That's pretty much it.  It's interesting trying to make a compelling story even at the early stages of writing.  And I think of all the planning that has gone into this story - to which I started almost a year ago.

Have an epic day!

New Year New Post

So I've been on a long Christmas Break haha!!
Well, I have been working on something awesome that I wanna share with you guys.
It's my new map of Abatral.

I expanded it from a normal piece of white printer paper to a huge map with a grid on it.  Take a look as I explain the parts with the pictures I took as I created this piece of work.

The Original Map

So for starters, I took the original map and traced over the land masses.  I scanned that into my computer.  Then I inserted an 8x8 table over it, using Microsoft Word.  Then I took a screenshot on my computer to get this picture.  I printed it off to use as a visual guide.

Then my dad, being the amazing guy he is, got me this huge roll of paper.  This was the worse part because I don't really like math.  haha.  At least I know how to do it though 😏
I had to figure out how big the little squares on my grid sheet that I had printed off was.  Then I incorporated that to the bigger map by multiplying by 6.  That was how I made the small squares.
To be honest, I guess the math wasn't the hardest part 😅
The hardest part probably was drawing a straight line!  Took me awhile and finally I just got a yard stick to help me out.

After the long process of drawing the squares, I finally moved on to draw the shapes of the continents and islands on the big map.  I even added smaller islands to fill the white spaces on the map to make it feel more realistic.  Then, of course, I drew my weird compass  😅

After that, it was straight to work.  I started with the Saphid Kingdom's stuff first.  The shaded portion on there are actually little circles to represent trees.  So all the shaded parts you see on this picture and the rest of the pictures represents forests or woodland... there was a lot 😧

Here's a closer look at the Aona Islands controlled by the Saphids.

Here is the Great Library.  The location is supposed to be where all knowledge is stored by the Dragons and other intelligent creatures.

This is the Viius Islands.  The three islands are kind of the biggest symbolism in the world.  The island called Bos is the one in the Northeast, with the volcano and barren lands.  The Island called Dor is the one in the Southwest, with the forests and river.  The remaining island is called Viius Island, where the Temple of Viius is located, the most sacred place in the Realm.

To give you an idea of the maps progression, here's what the whole map looks like from an overhead view so far.

Here is the Goryon Kingdom in the Far North.  The location is where the Goryon live.  Goryon's are humanoid Creatures born of a humanoid race and a Dragon Lord (Dragon Lords have the magical ability to morph into other creatures - I kinda think of the Dragons as the Greek Gods and the Goryon as Demigods).

Here's another look at the whole map.

This is Dokel, the island where the Okreds live.  Take note that there are three active Volcanoes on the island.  The other large chunks of islands were supposed to originally be a part of the main island of Dokel but broke off due to violent earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.  It is mostly a barren landscape, except for the southern part of the island.

Here's another look at the whole map.  It was coming along pretty well.  Right about here, I took a break for a couple days because it was Christmas weekend.

And then I moved on into the biggest landmass.  I was concerned about how long it would take me to do this, but I got 'er done 😏
The Fields of Darkness have their own history.  If you read some of my previous posts about the history of Abatral you'd recognize the name because it is deeply connected to the Abatral God Lumir and the Aidis.
The Elvish Kingdom is surrounded by the Mountains - I have yet to name them 😊
Their capital is tucked neatly within the mountains, though, giving them a natural border and wall.  Take notice that a wall was constructed by the Elves in the Northeast.  Also, I decided to add a river and a lake, to get rid of some white space.

Then I kinda went on spree 😏
I drew the Dwarvish Kingdom first.  Then I drew the huge river and the multiple lakes.  I even connected the river running from the Elvish Kingdom to the river that ran from the Dwarvish Kingdom.  I put some hilly area in the Northern part of the Human Kingdom.  Then I added the four major cities from the original map on the bigger map.  Then I added the Capital city of Enochai.

Then came the most annoying and hardest part of the map.  Drawing all the trees.  If you didn't know, drawing a ton of little circles is ridiculous.  There was a point where I almost gave up even.  But I looked at the entire map and saw all that I had done, and I was like, "Well I've come this far.  Might as well finish it."  😏😆
So I did.  I added a few other small towns to the map, to fill in the white spaces.  Then I went back through the entire map and added bridges that crossed over the rivers.

And finally, I had my end result.  I decided to color in the rivers across the map, to make them pop out.  I was almost ready to color the trees in with a green color, to distinguish them as trees, but I knew that if I did that, then all that shaded-in area on the map would look a nasty color.

*

So yeah.  It was a ton of fun, and being able to look at it now is amazing.  I love it and know that I'll be able to use it for my stories.  I plan on using pictures of individual locations (i.e. the Elvish Kingdom) when I write the history of the people.  I've already started on working on the history of Mankind.  I'm writing it, using the timeline of events given by the different Aidis', as most the things that happen in the Realm of Abatral often revolve around the Aidis.  The coolest thing I did while writing the history of Mankind was naming the different locations on the map.  I probably use some picture editor to write in the locations on the map.

*

My biggest and only mistake that I feel like I made was writing the names of the places in black marker.  This is because I know that I could have just put the pictures on my computer and then add the names of places with some cool font or something.  Oh well.  I love and think it looks cool.  Take a look at the old and new map:

Hope you all had an epic Christmas and New Years!!
I plan on going back to my regular post schedule,
if you can call it regular 😁

Have an awesome day!!

All parts of the map are drawn by me (and I'm pretty proud to say that 😏)

However, a big shout out to Microsoft for their Word Program,
And an EPIC SHOUT OUT to Fantasy Name Generators and their Map Creator.  I took a couple of their items for mountains and stuff and taught myself how to draw them.  So huge shout out to that website.
