Story Update
So I've been writing more. I got more stuff to go off of. I also got a new book - Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston (it came out on Tuesday this week haha) - so I will find new inspiration from reading this book, by the way the writer went about creating this book (which I am sure is a master piece).
But thinking about inspiration reminded me of my biggest inspiration when it comes to stories being told right. Granted there are many stories, TV shows, and movies that have awesome plots and dynamic characters that tug at your heartstrings. *cough cough* Star Wars.
But only one story I have ever watched stands above all the others.
Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Now if you haven't seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, seeing the intro to the show may make you think, oh he's doing a review of a kid's show.
No.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is amazing. It is one of the few TV shows that I have ever seen having so much character development. I won't spoil it too much because it is an experience that everyone should have lol.
On IMDb, it describes Avatar: The Last Airbender as such:
In a war-torn world of elemental magic, a young boy reawakens to undertake a dangerous mystic quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, and bring peace to the world.--http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417299/
The TV show was started in 2003 and ended in 2008, and is definitely a part of my childhood. This was back before kid shows decided to destroy 90's kids childhood memories and create awful things like Teen Titans Go!...Does it really even exist...
Anyway, this is about Avatar!!
The character development is beautiful. Every character has their own backstory, which is incredibly dynamic. And the writers approached it in the right way. They show all their cards at once in Season 1. They peppered some hints of characters backstories in season 1, but it isn't until season 2 that the characters real problems become relevant, and their backstories are unlocked - and the audience is pulled on this terribly incredible emotional journey with these characters that teach good life lessons. One of which comes from the end of season 2, which dynamically shows that you can't always win your battles in life. And the beginning of Season 3 showing that we can't let the darkness of our lives overcome us. That we must no matter what, keep moving forward - never giving up.
And of course there is the epic conclusion to the entire season, starting with the beautiful reunification of Iroh and Zuko, and ending with the emotion fight between Zuko and Azula; and the series long awaited battle between Avatar Aang and the Fire Lord.
The martial arts used in this show, and the amazing battle sequences... there are no words. They get better and better as the series goes along. And the end of season 3, all of the writers cards are put down on the table, and it is amazing.
You have to watch this series. It is literally one of the best. I don't think any TV series has ever topped it. Mostly because it has so much depth to their characters, making the characters more relatable and loved.
The creators made another TV series called the Legend of Korra by the way. Yeah, well...
They should have renamed these two series - The Legend of Aang and Korra the Last Avatar. haha.
Oh and one final piece of advise. Do not, under any circumstances, what so ever!!!! watch the movie called The Last Airbender. It's not really a movie... more like a tragedy or an abomination...
(This video will make more since if you've watched the TV series and then the awful...what am saying; DO NOT WATCH THE LAST AIRBENDER MOVIE)
Like I said, the movie was an abomination... on second thought - there was no movie actually.
Yep. So go and watch Avatar: the Last Airbender!!!!!
CAUSE THIS SHOW IS ON FIRE!!!!
